One of the songs by renowned Ghanaian highlife artist Charles Kwadwo Fosu, better known by his stage name Daddy Lumba, is featured on King Charles III’s most recent Apple Music playlist, which was made public to mark Commonwealth Day.
The highlife hit “Mpempem Do Me” from Daddy Lumba’s 2008 album Sika is one of the well-chosen songs that exemplify the Commonwealth’s diverse cultural variety.
As a testament to his love of international music, the King’s playlist features songs from several Commonwealth nations. African, Caribbean, and other traditional music forms are highlighted in the selection.
