The former New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong withdraws from NPP’s “Thank You Tour” citing the stubbing incident that occurred yesterday at the Bantama Pentecost Church in Kumasi.
The former Assin Central MP speaking in an interview with UTV said he is pulling out in the interest of peace and unity within the NPP.
Narrating the incident of how one KNUST student was stubbed, Mr. Agyapong said that upon arrival at the venue, many KNUST students came to support him but were initially prevented from doing so by the security loyal to former Vice President Bawumia pulling a gun to show the boys he was armed.
However, after the programme, one of his friends gave the KNUST students who came to drum and sing “Jama” GHc1,000 but the same Alhaji Ali Suraj’s security guards collected the money from the boys which degenerated into an argument making his friend insist that the said money was for the students.
But the Ali Suraj security guards gave only GHc200 out to the Ghc1,000 to the boys making the boys reject the ideal of the sharing ratio that they – the students were more than the GHc200. This moment made the Ali Suraj security guards give a warning shot escalating the issue that got his loyalist – the KNUST student stubbed.
He revealed that the issues had since been reported to the police and to prevent any further clashes, he has decided to pull out of the tour.
Mr. Agyapong seized the moment to declare his intention of contesting the NPP flagbearership race warning “they should take note and he is ready to face who so ever and what ever they want to do”
