Former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has called on all stakeholders involved in the ongoing Bawku conflict to offer their full support to the mediation efforts led by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
In a statement issued on April 13, 2025, Agyapong emphasized that lasting peace in Bawku is crucial for the overall peace and stability of Ghana.
He stressed that no part of the country can prosper when another is in turmoil, highlighting the importance of unity for national development.
Agyapong commended the government’s decision to back Otumfuo’s mediation process, which was initially set in motion by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and continues under the leadership of President Mahama.
He particularly urged the youth to avoid violent actions, emphasizing that no grievance, no matter how deep, justifies loss of life or destruction of property.
He further noted that peaceful coexistence is the foundation of the prosperous Ghana everyone desires.
The former MP concluded his statement by calling on all citizens and leaders to come together and contribute to restoring peace, noting that a unified effort is key to resolving the conflict and ensuring that Bawku, and Ghana as a whole, can thrive.
