The 2020 parliamentary candidate of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oforikrom constituency, Henry Osei Akoto, has indicated that the modus operandi, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, is employing the same old tricks of deception and papable falsehoods used by then-Akufo-Addo when campaigning to become the country’s president.
In a tweet cited by this portal, Henry Osei Akoto stated that the MP, who aspires to be the NPP’s presidential candidate and possibly win the presidential elections in the upcoming 2024 general elections, is relying on the same big promises, deceptions, and lies used by Mr. Akufo-Addo to ascend to the highest throne of the country.
“The way Kennedy Agyapong is talking is the same way Akufo-Addo spoke before becoming president. They are the same,” he inscribed.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will soon go to its National Delegates Conference to elect a new flagbearer on November 4, but the party’s outfit has witnessed petty infighting and cracks recently after one of its leading members in the race, Alan Kyerematen, withdrew from the presidential race and subsequently announced his resignation from the party.
He denounced his membership in the party following what he described as intimidation from his side, which has given room to only a few to hijack the party against the ideology of the NPP.
The former Minister of Trade and Industry has also announced his intention to run as an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 polls.
