The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in the Ashanti Region has got an acute shortage of over 150 medical doctors as a result of the delayed appointment of the next batch house officer to the facility.
As a result, the available medical staff have been asked to concentrate on in patients and emergency cases only.
[ads1]According to the Public relation officer of KATH, Mr Kwame Frimpong, said some medical doctors have left for their second year house man ship at the various district hospital and are expecting 170 new medical doctors to replace them but unfortunately the delayed in the release of their financial clearance they have not been able to resume duty which is why the hospital is in this current state.
He stated that, for that reasons medical doctors have been told to scale down on non emergency and O. P. D services in order to concentrate on the staff that they have on emergency cases.
Adding that by one to two weeks time their financial clearance will be ready and a such everything will come back to normal .
