Renowned for his tactical sharpness, Zito’s unassuming demeanor belies a burning passion for the beautiful game. Born in Nsawam Accra, Ghana, Zito’s love for football blossomed at a tender age. He began his playing career with local clubs and started officially as a left and right-wing of defense for GIHOC Stars in the early 70s. Zito was later selected to play for the Black Stars from 1980-1984 before transitioning to coaching in the late 1980s.
Karim Zito is a private individual who rarely shares details about his personal life with the media. However he is known to be married with kids and is also a devoted Moslem who cherishes his time with his loved ones. He is passionate about giving back to the community.
Karim Zito regularly conducts coaching clinics and mentorship programs for aspiring young coaches and players. He is also involved in various charitable initiatives aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged children in Ghana.

Zito brought his coaching ability to bear after he managed and qualified Kwaebibrem Stars and Feyenòord Academy (now WAFA) to the Ghana Premier League. Additionally, he led Kumapim Stars as player cum coach to qualify for Division One before later qualifying Mighty Royals and FC Medeama as well. He then took over from C.K Akonnor at Dreams FC and led them to the Premier League in 2018 before winning the G8 tournament.

Karim Zito joined Ghana’s U-20 team, the Black Satellites as head coach and won the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament in 2020. He then led them in 2021 to win the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, showcasing his adaptability and tactical prowess.
Currently Zito coaches Dreams FC and has led them to the CAF Confederation semi-finals in the club’s maiden appearance in the competition.
