The Deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Amos Blessing Amorse has said Kaaka Ibrahim died a hero adding “things should tell us that we are a step away from overcoming the enemy”
In a Facebook post sighted by Awake News, Mr. Amorse whiles encouraging the youth of Ghana to continue fighting for what he described as the “second rescuing of the country” lamented that events under the current President Akufo-Addo’s regime is pointing to a fact that “Our country is no longer a democratic State”.
Kaaka’s death:
Late Kaaka Ibrahim until his untimely death yesterday was a leading member of the #FixTheCountry Campaigners and Economic Freedom Fighters League.
He is said to have been receiving death threats weeks before his attack at his home in Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
Reports alleged that some people in the area felt his activism was increasingly making the ruling government unpopular hence reported him to the Ejura Police.
A letter circulating on social media alleged that the Police had issued him a written warning on June 15, 2021.
Over the weekend, Kaaka was said to have been attacked by a mob in his home. He was later rushed to the hospital but died yesterday whiles receiving treatment.
#FixTheCountry campaign:
In early May this year, social media campaign erupted taken the country by storm. The movement was sparked by an increase in taxes, Covid-19 tax. The campaigner among other things cited issues of corruption, high cost of living, poor governance among others.
The campaigner planned to hit the streets on May 9, 2021 but was stopped by the police with a court order citing a lack of resources to provide security for the demonstrators and Covid 19 restrictions rules. However, on the day of the planned demonstration, the police stormed the planned converging point in huge armored vehicles and men to stop the protesters in the event that they defied the court orders.
The case traveled to the Supreme Court where the high order granted to the police was quashed. Hearing the substantive case at the High Court last week, about fifteen members of the campaigners were arrested in the court premises.
Covid-19 restriction rules and compliance:
Many Ghanaians are wondering why President Akufo-Addo is hiding behind the Covid 19 restrictions rule to prevent them from exercising their constitutional rights at the time that he himself together with the Vice President, Chief Justice, and top government officials breaking the rules with impunity.

Dear Youth Of Ghana:
Kaaka witnessed, tasted, experienced and felt the ills of society and decided to join other progressives to fight against it. His ultimate aim was to build a just society for he youth as he could no longer sit aloof to see the future of youth robbed by a few.
He stood for something and had to pay the ultimate price for it – death. He was killed for openly crusading against some of things we say in silence. He died a HERO. There cannot be any opportune time to intensify this fight and win it in memory of Kaaka. His tragic death should NEVER dumpen our spirit but ignite the revolutionary consciousness in us to do what our forefathers did in the past to RESCUE this country.
When our forebears started the liberation struggle, some of them were imprisoned and some killed. Those who survived made sure they overpowered the enemy in memory of their colleagues. Similar, in this fight, some of us will be detained and some killed like Kaaka but such things should tell us that we are a step away from overcoming the enemy. Our forefathers never thought that, after successfully rescuing our country, a day like this will come where our country will need a second rescuing. It is our turn to offer our services in pursuit of another liberation struggle.
The Police and the Military only get incensed when one of their own is killed. When a civilian is killed for no justifiable reason like the case of Kaaka, it means nothing to them. It means nothing to government. When our colleagues in the Arab world were faced with similar situation, it took just one young man to set the tone for full blown liberation.
Dear Youth, never be deceived that you are safe under the present circumstance. You are not. Even if you feel safe because you are with the oppressors, know that you have relatives who may not necessarily be enjoying the protective cover you have been offered. Our country is no longer a democratic State. Dissent is now fertile ground for you to be killed.
Nobody should be deceived that the killers of Kaaka will be found. There are countless examples of such. The State has not been able to find the killers of Armed Suale, J B Danquah, Hayford, Cpt Mahama and others. Kaaka’s death is painful. Kaaka was killed in pursuit of a just course. Kaaka was killed because he wanted the right things to be done. Kaaka was killed because he stood against corruption, greed, state capture, misrule, culture of silence etc. He could have remained silent like most of us and enjoy his life but he said NO!
WeAreAllKaaka! We cannot continue like this! Something must definitely be done!
