Julian Nagelsmann has signed a new deal with the German national team and will not return to FC Bayern Munich as reported earlier.
The contract will keep Julian Nagelsmann until after the 2026 World Cup. Germany beat France and Netherlands in friendlies last month after Julian Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick as coach of the team. He was signed on a short-term deal that would see him lead the team until after the Euros. The former Bayern Munich coach oversaw three victories and two defeats since taking over in September 2023.
“This is a decision of the heart. It is a great honour to be able to coach the national team and work with the best players in the country,” Nagelsmann said about the contract.
“With successful passionate performances we’ve the chance to inspire an entire country. Also, the two wins against France and the Netherlands in March really touched me,” the Germany tactician said.
He concluded by stating the targets ahead of him and his team. “We want to play a successful home Euros together… then I’m really looking forward to the challenge of a World Cup together with my coaching staff.”
