Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has taken legal action against the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, over what she describes as defamatory and damaging allegations.

Through her legal representatives at R.O. Solomon Consulting, Mogtari is demanding GHS10 million in compensation along with a public apology.

The demands follow statements Abronye made during a March 26, 2025 interview on Net 2 TV, where he alleged that Mogtari rejected a ministerial position in favour of a less demanding presidential staffer role with a salary of GHS95,000 per month. Mogtari’s legal team has strongly denied these claims.

Describing the remarks as false, reckless, and malicious, the legal notice argues that Abronye’s statements were not only baseless but have also been widely circulated online, resulting in reputational damage and public ridicule for Mogtari.

The letter insists that the claims could easily have been disproven since information regarding Mogtari’s appointment is publicly available and verifiable.

Her legal team is calling for an immediate and unqualified retraction of the statements, a public apology to be published on all platforms where the allegations were circulated including Net 2 TV, GhanaWeb, MyJoyOnline, Channel One TV, and Citi FM, as well as payment of GHS10 million in damages for the emotional distress and reputational harm caused.

The notice signals that if these demands are not met, Mogtari will proceed with legal action to seek redress through the appropriate channels.
