The Euphoria that greeted his arrival was indeed a tremendous one. He received a rousing welcome as he commenced the tour from Tema East before proceeding to Tema West and ending at La-Dade Kotopon Constituency.

Joshua Akamba interacted with the Electoral Commission officials, registrants and party agents at the centres.

At the Tema West centre, officials detailed the challenges they encountered particularly with power outages. Though the Electoral Commission promised to secure generators for the exercise, the centre said they had not received theirs yet. However, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, Mr James Enu made available a generator for the process to continue whenever there is light out.

According to the Electoral Commission officials at the centre, they are optimistic they will meet their targets by the end of the registration window.

Mr Akamba urged the Commission to prioritize collaboration with the Ghana Statical Service to know which places would have large numbers to prepare for those areas.

He encouraged the EC officials to go in line with the rules of engagement while also praising the constituency and party executives for working hard to ensure a fruitful exercise. Akamba also commended first-time voters for taking time out of their schedules to have their names captured on the register.

At the La Dade-Kotopon EC office, Mr Akamba engaged some of the registrants. A young lady who was present to register divided opinions by calling the Free SHS policy a hoax. She said she pays more money to be in school and the textbooks are also expensive. Her words clearly explained why she was present to register and vote on December 7; obviously to kick out the ruling party.

Mr Akamba used the opportunity to admonish party members and executives to work effortlessly for the NDC to come to power.

He told them that to see the party out of opposition, everyone needs to sacrifice, be committed and collaborate to win the elections. According to him, the sacrifices will not be in vain.

Mr Akamba assured the NDC agents and party faithful that as ‘grassroots captain’, he’ll never sit idle for Tema East, Tema West And other constituencies to sink. Party members present thanked him for reviving the spirit of NDC in the Tema East Constituency because at first, it was not an easy task to wear anything NDC.

Also, Akamba praised the Ghana Police Service for a great job in maintaining law and order at the various registration centres. He appealed to them to carry the same grace to the general elections this year.
