Black Stars assistant coach, John Paintsil has dragged four journalists and three media houses to court for attacks on his personality. The former Black Stars defender takes the action less than a month after he assumed the role of an assistant coach with the national team.
Before he was appointed the Black Stars assistant coach, John Paintsil criticized the Save Ghana Football demonstration organized by the four journalists in the suit. After his appointment, the leaders of the demonstration felt John Paintsil shot down the essence of their demonstration because of his interests.
Though the former defender was criticized roundly by the public who said his comments on the UTV Showbiz programme was intended to dilute the effectiveness of the protest. The criticism, however, became significant when he was offered the role as assistant to Otto Addo.
However, the former Black Stars players feels the criticisms were unfounded and damaging to his reputation. He has therefore decided to take legal action to clear his image.
Journalists Saddick Adams of Angel Sports, Countryman Songo, Veronica Commey and Christopher Nimley are the four individuals named in the suit. The three media companies are the Multimedia Group, Angel Broadcasting Network and OMNI Media Limited.
