Former President John Mahama has been under attack from some angry NDC members on social media saying their 2020 flag bearer should not have allowed “Prime Minister” Gabby in his home or for such meetings on the request of the President Akufo-Addo.
To me, the former president Mahama did no wrong accepting to meet Gabby. This should rather be seen as a former president who is ready to dialogue with his political opponents for the progress of Ghana even if has been disrespected by President Akufo-Addo. His acceptance to me, speaks volumes of the humility and the nationalistic nature of John Dramani Mahama whiles exposing the arrogance, supper incompetence and individualistic nature of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Reading former President’s clarification on President Akufo-Addo’s response to him suggesting that when he (Mahama) was consulted on the e-levy issue, he (Mahama) offered no solutions further exposed the deceitful nature of President Akufo-Addo and his elephant-side empty government.
A competent, humble, respectful and a President who is thinking about the supreme interest of the nation should have personally invited Former President Mahama, the NDC Caucus Leadership in Parliament, NDC National Leadership to meet with him, his Vice, his finance minister and former President Kufour to table his request to Mahama and the NDC but not to send an “errand boy” Prime Minister Gabby Asare Ochtere Darko.
At that level, issues on the e-levy would have been discussed from the potential difficulties government could face if the e-levy is not implemented. It would have given the opportunity to President Akufo-Addo and his team to get some wise counsel on this e-levy issue.
Those attacking Mahama must note that whatsoever demands Akufo-Addo made through his messenger Gabby was not heeded to by John Mahama hence Akufo-Addo’s seemingly angry public response to Mahama.
Ghanaians and the NDC members attacking Mahama should direct their anger to President Akufo-Addo for his arrogance, supper incompetence, and disrespect that is plunging this country into these difficulties we are experiencing but not John Mahama.
