Former President John Dramani Mahama has taken the COVID-19 jab on Tuesday 2nd March 2021 at exactly 10:00am at Police Hospital in Accra.
His wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama, was also vaccinated.
On Monday, 1 March 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and their wives became the first group of persons to take the Covid-19 vaccine which was delivered to Ghana days ago.
The mass administration of the vaccine against the coronavirus pandemic began today.
600,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines arrived in the country last week for the vaccination exercise which will take place in 43 districts with high infection rates.
The 43 highly infected districts include 25 districts in the Greater Accra Region, 16 districts in the Ashanti Region, and two districts in the Central Region respectively.
Even though there are widespread conspiracy theories with respect to the Covid vaccines, many believe the current President and former President taking turns to take the shot will boost public confidence in taking the vaccine to help put the spread of the virus under control.
