Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman President Akufo-Addo-led administration for creating jobs that do not last beyond a few years. In a subtle dig at the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), a programme under the current administration that has since ended, she said an NDC government will provide permanent jobs, not temporary.

NABCO was a government initiative aimed at addressing graduate unemployment. Launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo on May 1, 2018, the programme promised to employ 100,000 graduates under seven modules. Grouped under Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Civic Ghana and Enterprise Ghana, the programme did not end as expected. T

Trainees were given three (3) year contracts with a GH¢700 stipend every month. However, there was little room for progression under the modules and trainees also had to battle with authorities for their allowances before they were paid.

Jane Naana explained that after the tenure of president Mahama in 2028, the history book would have it that John Mahama is a man who offers quality education and jobs.

“The report would contrast the existing arrogance in leadership with that of the respectful JDM, who builds the children and youth by offering quality education, serious, adaptable training, lasting skills, who opens up the economy to create more space for jobs and for self-actualization. It would highlight a JDM who does not line up desperate, young people in the heat of the tropical sun, to march and salute him as head of state, for jobs that have no head, tail, or future” she said.

According to her, all the NDC policies are well thought through to ensure they are beneficial to their intended targets.

“The report would explain the foundations of the policies of the NDC that thrive on consensus building- from observation, study, analysis through vigorous debates that tolerate all views, to an agreement on the options at hand and end with well-thought-through implementation plans. The benefits of such an approach inure to all—nation, community, and individual, necessarily in that order” she stated..
