The embattled Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has been re-elected as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for Amenfi Central constituency.

This comes after the party declared a re-run on the seat after a court action challenging the validity of Joana’s candidature from some executives of the constituency.

The plaintiffs seek the following  “reliefs (c), (d) and (e) of the Plaintiffs’ action, they seek from the court, the annulment of the parliamentary primary election result and an order for rerun of the election.”

The NDC party on September 6, 2024 declared that “the Parliamentary primaries conducted on the 13th May 2023 in Amenfi Central have been annulled forthwith and explained that the choice was made to meet a deadline set by the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to the NDC, it must file all its 275 parliamentary candidates with the EC by Tuesday, September 10, 2024. The statement issued by the NDC noted that considering the judgment date of the Sekondi High Court scheduled for October, the party could not afford the risk of not having a candidate in Amenfi Central for the December 7 parliamentary elections.

The unfazed P.C  was elected through acclamation after the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah and two other contestants, Dr Karl Mark Arhin and George Kofi Arthur withdrew from the contest after Saturday’s  vetting.

A total of 1,430 delegates were present for the acclamation on sunday after the other contest withdrew. Read the declaration of results below;
