The National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has injuncted the Electoral Commission on proceeding to print parliamentary ballot paper for the 2024 elections, as they seek to rectify the disqualification of Madam Joana Gyan as the parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central.

A Motion of notice from the supreme court sighted by Awakenewsroom indicates that the NDC has moved the, “Court for an order of interlocutory injunction to restrain the Defendant (EC) from the printing of the ballot papers and notice of poll for the purposes of the 2024 Parliamentary elections specifically for the Amenfi Central Constituency until the final determination of the substantive suit upon the grounds stated in the accompanying affidavit and for any further order(s) as this Honourable Court may deem meet”.

The order of interlocutory injunction has sufficed as a result of the EC disqualifying the NDC parliamentary candidate base on the Amenfi Central NDC primaries conducted in May, 2023.

The May, 2023, election was nullified and a new election conducted in September 2024, resulting in Madam Joana Gyan retaining the position as the parliamentary candidate.

However, the EC in a letter dated October, 10, 2024 indicated it has disqualified the said candidate based on the interlocutory injunction on the May 2023 election/primaries.
