The Communications Director of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr. Emmanuel Wilson has said most of the political parties that attended the first Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting conveyed by the Electoral Commission yesterday were disappointed in [ads1]the EC Chair, Jean Mensa.
According to him, the notice of the meeting was conveyed to them very late with the excuse that the meeting was an emergency one. He also stated that they were not even invited in writing but rather a telephone call.
Mr. Wilson added when the PNC protested at the manner in which the information of the meeting was being conveyed to them, the officials at the Commission pleaded with them to come to the meeting and table their protest and whatever disappointing they have.
Speaking on Radio Gold this morning and monitored by Awake News, Mr. Wislon said the most disappointing of all was Mrs. Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission did not attend the first IPAC meeting which he said is very unfortunate.
“We were not informed as a Political Party of Jean Mensa being the new EC so we all thought the first IPAC Meeting was an opportunity meet us and introduced herself” – He said
“Is very unfortunate she will miss such an important meeting like IPAC as a new EC chair”.
“Which other meeting is that very important to her that she cannot delegate other than the IPAC” – He quizzed
Mr. Wilson further stated that they were shocked at the meeting when they noticed that the agenda for the meeting was not an emergency issue as they were made to believe in the telephone invitation.
He revealed that an IPAC meeting which was supposed to be a forum for discussion and inputs only turns out to be a meeting where they were only informed about the decision already taken by the Electoral Commission on the referendum date for the proposed creation of the new Regions that he says the PNC sees as clearly unnecessary.
For him, former IEA Boss, Jean Mensa has not changed in her attitude on not consulting where there is a clear need to consult just like how she was behaving at the IEA in the conduct of the Presidential Debate.
The largest opposition party, NDC boycotted the meeting saying the invitation was sent to them in a late hour and even an agenda.
