The Coordinator for Jammeh to Justice Ghana Campaign, Mr. William Nyarko has taken their campaign to the Parliament of Ghana to lobby Members to support the campaign that seeks to bring former Gambia’s President, Yahya Jammeh to face justice over the killing of some 44 Ghanaians and 11 other West Africa nationals in 2005.
The Jammeh2Justice Ghana Campaign is a civil society coalition which is demanding action against the perpetrators including the former Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh where the families of the 44 Ghanaians who were killed are keen in demanding justice for their murdered relatives.
The Jammeh2Justice Ghana Campaign is a joint group of civil society groups including the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Africa Center for International Law and Accountability, Amnesty International, Human Rights Advocacy Center (HRAC), POS Foundation, and Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI).
Since the launch of the campaign, the coalition has undertaken several activities including engagements with key institutions deeply involved in the investigation of the disappearance of the 44. Institutions including the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s y, CSOs and individuals.
The group, in order to raise awareness of the “Jammeh to justice Campaign”, organized a forum in the Ashanti Region, where majority of the victims hail from, to gather support as part of efforts to bring Yahaya Jammeh and those who bear the greatest responsibility for the massacre to justice.
