I am Jafaru Yakubu from Atebubu Amantin and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I have just listened to Abronye DC that I and some unknown group from Atebubu beat him yesterday, Saturday, 13th January 2018.
He stated that, at the time he was being attacked I told him that because he said the Regional Minister should be sacked we will beat him to death
Again, he described me as a criminal because Asomah-Cheremeh was the one who defended me in criminal cases and so I am one of the Asomah -Cheremeh boys
I wish to state as follows:
1. I was there at DCE’s house together with other people as Abronye himself has stated. Abronye DC is my long time friend and even in Accra we were moved together.
2. The alleged boys were in the House accusing Abronye DC of disgracing the Brong Ahafo Chief Imam and all Muslims by saying that, the chief Imam and Hon Eric Opoku, the former Regional Minister spent 50,000ghc of the RCC’s Money on Coca-Cola drinks.
He was asked to withdraw that statement following the press statement the Office of the Chief Imam issued some few weeks or months ago.
Abronye DC said he will not withdraw the statement and this resulted in a hot argument as he himself has said.
3. Throughout the argument, nobody mentioned the name of Hon Kwaku Asomah- Cheremeh, the BRONG AHAFO Regional Minister. I REPEAT that the Regional Minister’s name was NEVER mentioned by anybody. So it is wrong for Abronye DC or any other person to bring in the name of the Regional Minister.
I want to state that I have never called Abronye DC to threaten him on issues between himself and Hon Kwaku Asomah – Cheremeh. It is a big LIE.
4.Yes, Myself, and four others namely: Kofi, Andewa, Mawia and Mansiru were arrested prior to the 2012 elections because we were campaigning for NPP. The NDC thugs at that time seized an outboard motor belonging to we the NPP on the Krachi water near Kajeji in the Brong Ahafo Region for political reasons. We,the members of the New Patriotic Party, reported the matter to the Police at Krachi and for about six(6) months time nothing was done.
Later on, it was alleged that we ( the NPP members) had also seized an outboard motor belonging to the NDC. We were therefore arrested and sent to Court. The Court remanded the five of us for one year but for the intervention of the Regional Minister, the then lawyer and Regional chairman of the NPP in the BRONG AHAFO Region, we would have been in jail for the rest of ourlives.
Does this mean that I am a criminal and a thug of Asomah – Cheremeh?
5. I am aware that it was the Regional Minister who defended Abronye DC in three criminal cases that he was involved in. Apart from that ,the Regional Minister even signed his bail.
Does that make him (Abronye DC a criminal and Asomah- Cheremeh tag) ?
Again, does that mean the Regional Minister was the one who told him “Abronye DC” to insult Hon Kan Dapaa, Lord Commey and the Brong Ahafo Regional Chief Imam?
For the records, I am not a criminal and had never been corrupt and if not for the NPP I have never been involved in any case involving the police.
I am a committed Muslim and a member of the NPP like His Excellency, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and my view is that the unnecessary attacks by Abronye DC on the BRONG AHAFO Regional Chief Imam is affecting the image of the NPP particularly within the Zongos.
The refusal by Abronye DC to apologize to the Chief Imam will not help the NPP in the Brong Ahafo Region. Many Muslims and non Muslims are not happy with the misconduct of Abronye DC towards the Regional Chief Imam.
I therefore agree with anybody who calls on Abronye DC to render an unqualified apology to the Chief Imam and all Muslims to make the New Patriotic Party more Democratic and attractive in the Region.
By way of conclusion I want to say that I have not or I did not beat Abronye DC
