Sometimes life doesn’t go the way we planned, we stumble, we fall, we fail, we feel disappointed, we feel betrayed but somehow some people manage to get up and keep trying.  That is because they know something you don’t know. They understand something most people don’t.  They know that success is a climb, it’s a journey. It’s a lifelong [ads1]built with undulating and unpredictable ups and downs built with risk. They also know that in this journey pain is inevitable. Therefore they must master the art of resilience.

Resilience is that ineffable quality that allows people to be knocked down by life and come back stronger than before. All successful people know that for you to succeed you must have the resilience to face the inevitable pains and hardship. It is that pain that will take you off your comfort zone and force you to see things from a different angle.

People who master the art of resilience know that for you to grow up you ought to give us something. You must be willing to be mocked and insulted whilst building your ark in a place where it had never rained and must be willing to be underestimated whilst you are fighting a giant that everyone fears with just a sling and a stone, you have to be willing to believe in what everyone calls impossible. You must be willing to be called crazy.  You must be willing to be your own cheerleader, to jump, run and dance to celebrate you. People won’t get you, they won’t understand why you do the things you do.

Hey, listen to me!! Success is not an overnight thing, you try, you fail, you keep going until you manage.  The difference between those that managed and those that failed at all is that one of them stopped trying. You have to be fearlessly resilient. It will hurt, no, as a matter of fact, it must hurt but when you become resilient you outlast the pain.

The pain is inevitable but the suffering is optional. We have been broken too, called names, dropped out of school, lost parents, lost direction but we came back and guess what we came stronger than before because we are warriors, and the only thing that warriors do best is to fight. That mansion is not going to build itself, that farm is not going to buy itself, that first aeroplane to be made in Botswana is not going to create itself and yes your kids’ school fees won’t pay itself. Fight until you get it done. You fall get up, dust yourself and keep moving.

Every setback is a preparation for coming back. Show me a warrior without a scar and I will show you my legend, the late Muhammad ALI, or I will show you late Nelson Mandela, it was hard but they kept moving. When the going gets tough it’s tough that stay going. When you master the art of resilience even when it gets tough you will learn to get up anyway and to push onwards towards your dream.  It is possible. When you decide and you believe you can, you will do it. Virtue lies in the struggle, not the price.
