The Minister of state in charge of Government Communications, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the Information Services Department (ISD) will be rebranded as the Government Communications Office.
The Minister said this when he met the staff of the former Ministry of Information and Information Services Department on Wednesday at a durbar to introduce himself to ISD staff and to assure that no staff would be worse due to the merger or annulment of ministries.
He explained that the rebranding is part of broader government reforms that have reduced the number of ministries from 30 to 23, including changes to the Ministry of Information.
“Starting from March, you will begin to see manifestations of this. There will be major changes, and all of it is aimed at getting you to be more efficient and deliver better than you have ever been able to,” he emphasised.
Speaking about staff concerns over the reorganisation, the Minister stated that some staff might be reassigned to different roles within the organisation, assuring that employment and conditions of service would remain secure.
The Minister disclosed plans for additional support and logistics for the department, noting that some limitations staff faced would be addressed.
The transformation aims to make government communication more accessible and effective in serving the public.
