Speaking to the chiefs and people of Odum-Banso in the Western Region yesterday Thursday 22nd October 2020 he said, his government shall grant amnesty to all the jailed galamsey operators and give those offenders a second chance to right their wrongs and better their lives.

He said “When we come into power, I will grant amnesty to everyone who was arrested for operating in Galamsey. I believe that these operators are remorseful towards any unlawful activities, so we will give them another chance.”

He then noted that his government will do different from the NPP party and ensure that his new policies for the small scale miners will benefit everyone by creating wealth for the people, especially those living in mining communities.

Mr. Mahama further noted that every mining district in Ghana will be assigned professionals from the University of Mines and Technology at Tarkwa to regulate and train all the small scale miners to ensure the safety of the miners during the mining process and also train them on proper land reclamation. He again added that ” Akufo-Addo has allowed his party members to benefit from small scale-mining and has stopped people who are not affiliated to the NPP party to starve”.

The flagbearer, in conclusion, urged the people of the Odum-Banso to vote massively for him come 7th December and his parliamentary candidate for the betterment of their life.
