Atletico Madrid loanee João Félix has announced his desire to stay at Barcelona beyond the end of the current season. The forward explained that he is keen to continue playing at the Camp Nou. However, that is a decision he will have to communicate and find common ground with both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
“My position is clear, I want to continue and stay at Barcelona. I’d be happy to stay and continue at Barcelona for sure as my family loves it here, but it doesn’t depend on me”.
“Let’s see what happens, I’d love to play at Camp Nou. And so we will see what’s needed to make it happen.”
To make the Portuguese stay at the Camp Nou permanent, Barcelona will need to pay around €80 million for the forward. He has a release clause of €350 million but his storied time at the Wanda Metropolitano makes no case for such fees. Joao Felix has so far scored 6 goals and created an additional three for Barcelona in the league.
Also, the former Chelsea forward spoke about Bernado Silva, another Portuguese who has been constantly linked to the Catalan giants. Manchester City midfielder Bernado Silva has been linked to the La Liga champions. But he has a contract at the Etihad until 2026 with his release clause pegged at £50 million.
“If I were Deco for a day, I would without a doubt bring in Bernardo Silva. I hope they can bring him. He is a great footballer and a fantastic person. He usually asks me how things are here. I told him everything is fine, so he can come.”
“Let them bring him [to Barca]. Have you seen him play? He’s even better as a person. He’s from [Joao] Cancelo’s generation. Now players last until they are 35-36 years old,” Felix added.
“I’d also like Xavi to change his mind and continue here as manager, he’s great coach with great ideas” the Portuguese noted.
