The Procurement Minister and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament Sara Adwoa Safo has said she indeed requested for $8,500 from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) but was not given.

She requested for the money from the NHIA and the said money cost part of her training programme, tuition, and air travel.

She explained that she was soliciting for the money to pay for an executive leadership training programme at Harvard.

In a letter dated March 16, 2018, wrote to the NHIA boss asking for the money to be paid, she said: “As the chairperson of the Women Caucus in Parliament, this program would enlighten and enhance my knowledge in leadership and governance”

But in a swift response to the report, she said the request was subsequently withdrawn after Parliament decided to fund the trip and the training.

She added that Parliament sponsored her to pursue the leadership program as the chairperson of the Women Caucus in Parliament stating that she did not receive any money from the NHIA.

Adwoa Safo denies $8,500 cash from NHIA
