Following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, a key figure in the party and former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority, has distanced himself from the usual tone of apology or blame-shifting.
During the party’s ongoing Thank You Tour, Abdul-Hamid made it clear that he holds no regrets about the campaign, the outcome, or the party’s ambitious attempt to “Break the 8.”
He confidently stated, “The general secretary and others are nice guys, but I am not a very nice guy. They might say they are sorry, but walaahi, I am not sorry about anything.”
This bold declaration set him apart from other party leaders who may be adopting a softer approach after the defeat. For Abdul-Hamid, the NPP gave its all, and that, in his view, is something to be proud of.
“We did our best for this country, and there is nothing that John Mahama will do that will match up to what we have done. Nothing, walaahi, nothing,” he emphasized, underscoring his conviction in the party’s efforts, despite the loss.
