FREDRICK Opare-Ansah, a Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region has debunked social media reports that he allegedly insults and describing the residents of Okorase as ” Villagers “.

[ads1]According to him, it is very disheartening and sardonic that persons claiming to be literates will spew falsehood about him.

He made these responses, in reactions to a statement trending on social media made by a group NPP Youth Activists to render an unqualified apology to the residents of Suhum – Okorase for describing them as “Villagers”.

The party activists who are pushing for the “Suhum Need Change” agenda, noted that, since 2004 Opare-Ansah, became the Member of Parliament, his performance in terms of developments in the constituency is nothing to write home about, therefore, they are advising the delegates to votes against him in the next party primary to pave way for another candidate to lead the Party to the 2020 polls.

The group in a press statement hinted that Opare Ansah on an electoral tour nearly caused a political disaster when he was asked to retract a statement he had earlier made that electorates of Okorase are villagers.

According to the statement, the delegates of Okorase electoral area got angry with the MP when asked to retract and render an unqualified apology to the delegates and the community, guiltily and shamefully refused but Opare-Ansah rather shamefully threatens court action to them who they expect to vote for him come next year’s parliamentary primaries.

The statements added that, in an attempt to ask the MP to retracts his statements, the meeting nearly turn into blows which Opare-Ansah angrily drove some of the delegates out from the meeting.

However, Opare-Ansah narrating what happened on that day, he said the delegates of Asafohene Atiemo had nothing to do with the mentioning of Okorase lest to talk of describing them as villagers.

According to him, said issues raised at the said meeting bothered on issues affecting their electoral area and not that of Okorase.

He explained that one Agyei Emma who happens to be the Chairman of Kofigya Polling station is the one who was said to have relayed such information to the delegates of Okorase of which he has come to refute all allegations leveled against him by one Cudjoe the Polling station Chairman of Okorase.

He has said that he never saw that Cudjoe lest to have discussed anything of that sort.

Mr. Opare Ansah added that Cudjoe who happens to be the Polling station Chairman of Okorase is only trying to tarnish his image to make the delegates solidarize with his brother who will be contesting him in the next primaries when nominations are opened.

He explained that he only threatened a lawsuit because the Chairman of the Polling station had organized the constituents of Okorase and spew falsehood about words he never uttered.

He said, ” I threatened them with legal action to ascertain the truth so that sleeping dogs can lie”

He noted that, when the incident happened, the chiefs of Okorase summoned him and the branch polling station chairman before the residents of the area to dialogue on the issue.

However, after hearing both sides, the branch chairman was found guilty for making such false statements against him, and the chairman was asked to apologize to the community for making such reckless statements.

On his achievements, he explained his outfits since been a MP has lobbied a lot of developmental projects into the constituency in of terms of GetFund projects, water system for communities, electrification, construction of markets, provision of TLMs, computers for schools and institutions, motorbikes for the education directorate, scholarships for students, beds and incubators for the Suhum Government Hospital among others that cannot be mentioned one after the other.
