The immediate past National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Said Sinare has in a Facebook post expressed his disappointment in the minority in parliament for approving the new president’s ministerial nominees despite the party’s directive and the collective interest of Ghanaians.

The furious former National Vice Chairman of the party stated in a statement that the NDC Group in Parliament proclaimed a principled position a couple of weeks ago not to approve any new ministers until the President took steps to considerably reduce the size of his government.

He stated that while this standpoint was endorsed by a large cross-section of Ghanaians and public advocacy groups, a few of its members, due to their parochialism, distanced themselves from their principled positions and went on to approve the president’s nominees.

H.E Alhaji Said Sinare, while persuading the party to be decorous in their communications on the matter and to take immediate steps to investigate the reason for the utter violation of the party’s direction, described the conduct of the minority as unconscionable and surprising.

NDC CRISIS: ALTHOUGH I AM DISAPPOINTED IN THE MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT, NDC IS NOT INVOLVED IN WAR OF ATTRITION

Despite democracy being about choice, the choices made must advance the lots of its citizens and be of great advantage to the masses of Ghanaians.

It is of grave concern to express my profound disappointment in a section of the minority group in parliament with regard to the approval of the six Akufo-Addo ministerial appointees.

The call to downsize the over-bloated current government is not a call from the National Democratic Congress Party but a national call from the majority of the good people of Ghana.
It is rather sad and devastating to note that, despite the express directive given by the NDC party on behalf of the Ghanaian people to its members of parliament, it was met with parochialism, greed, and a complete disregard for the collective party position by a section of its members of parliament.

I wish to state categorically that, on average, more than one hundred (100) members of parliament in the minority group have shown good faith and fidelity to the Ghanaian people and the party, respectively, which is an act of overwhelming rejection of President Akufo Addo’s ministerial appointees by the good people of Ghana.

I want to assure the Ghanaians that the road to victory is full of impediments, hills, and fatigue, but what brings victory is perseverance and persistence, and it is clear that the NDC as a political party still stands by them and remains the only best and most trusted alternative come 2024.

I therefore call on them to support the course of the NDC to deliver victory to the nation builder, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, come December 7, 2024, to build a country where going back to the drawing board to correct certain mistakes out of incompetence and insensitivity will be a thing of the past.

For those over one hundred (100) members of parliament who have championed the course of the Ghanaian people, I say “Ayekoo”! But for those few who, for certain reasons, betrayed the loyalty of Ghanaians and showed bad faith toward the NDC party, there is more room to make amends, and in the spirit of unity and togetherness, fight the real battle come 2024 and deliver to Ghanaians a governance of truth, humility, and people first.

In as much as this act from our admirable members of Parliament is unconscionable and surprising given their blatant disregard for the party’s interests and directive not to approve any of the president’s ministerial nominees, I will advise that we guide our utterances and put strict measures in place as soon as possible to investigate what contributed to this disinterestedness.

We must all agree that, today, we are disappointed but not defeated so we should remain steadfast in our commitment to making sure this horrible administration of Nana Addo downsizes his government without the involvement of the minority group in Parliament if indeed they have the will of Ghanaian people at heart.

Thank you,
Signed
H.E Alhaji Said Sinare,
Former National Vice Chairman, NDC.
