In a momentous event on December 8, 2023, Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, the dedicated Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, brought a positive wave of change to the JT Cluster of Schools in Adwenbu and Canns Basic School in Mataheko. The commissioning of two mechanized boreholes marked the fruition of a swift and impactful initiative, set in motion after a groundbreaking ceremony on November 4th.

At JT Cluster of Schools, Mr. Foster Akufo, the head teacher of Mataheko “1” Basic, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the school community. He highlighted the pressing need for water to address sanitation challenges, emphasizing the timely intervention by the Member of Parliament. Madam Eunice Lamptey, Headteacher of Abossey Okai Anglican, and other teachers present echoed their appreciation.

Mr. Quarcoo, an opinion leader, used the occasion to impart a valuable lesson to the pupils about the purity and usefulness of water. Encouraging them to have pure hearts and clean minds, he emphasized positive interactions with teachers, classmates, and parents at home.

Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, in his address, assured the school leadership of his unwavering support for education in the constituency. He urged continued collaboration and promised to address security needs. The commissioning ceremony, led by the MP, saw the active participation of the headteachers, selected pupils, the Assemblyman, and community members.

Moving to Canns Basic School, the municipal director of education, Mrs. Monica Ansaba Kumahor, graced the occasion with her staffs and teachers alongside Mateheko Ward Coordinator Hon. Nii Amah Tagoe, NDC executives, and the incoming assembly member, Hon. Robert Cash Kennedy, with his aspiring unit committee members.

Hon. Abdul-Latif Dan, during the event, pledged four classroom blocks with support from Qatar Charity. Expressing his desire to do more for the constituency, he sought support from key stakeholders within the constituency. The Municipal presented a citation of appreciation to the MP for his unwavering support.

The commissioning concluded with a special appreciation to Qatar Charity for their continuous support to the Ablekuma Central Constituency, with the completion and commissioning of the 4th mechanized borehole project out of the planned 6 in the past 4 months. The projects stand as tangible symbols of positive change and community development.
