The Member of Parliament for Ho West, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has received a Leadership Impact Award for outstanding contributions to the promotion of best practices in education in Africa.
The award was presented to him by Exam Ethics Marshalls International (EEMI) in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday, September 26, 2019 during the organization’s 23rd International Conference.
EEMI is a Nigerian based non-governmental organization founded in 1996, to inspire stakeholders in education to work individually and collectively to promote ethics, integrity and best practices in education and combat examination malpractice, academic dishonesty and corruption in education in Africa.
The organization which has its headquarters in Abuja-Nigeria, operates national, regional, state and institutional chapters in African countries including Ghana.
Presenting the award to Hon. Bedzrah, Prof. Abednego E. Ekoko, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of EEMI made specific reference to the MP’s scholarship and financial support schemes and other educational interventions including Ho West District Basic Schools’ Annual Quiz Competition (BaSAQ-C), VORSA Community Service Program, provision of motorbikes to Circuit Supervisors to enhance their monitoring and supervision duties, lobbying for over 77 educational infrastructure projects for his constituency all of which in the words of Prof. Ekoko “have contributed tremendously in improving and promoting best practices in education in the Ho West District of Ghana in particular, and Africa in general”.
On his part, Hon. Bedzrah who dedicated the award to Ho West constituents thanked EEMI for the honour done him and promised to continue to do more to support education in Africa.
Citing the example of Ashesi University in Ghana, where examinations are written without the physical presence of invigilators, the MP holds that this practice inspires confidence, builds integrity and eliminates fear and panic that comes with writing examinations. He urged EEMI to encourage this practice by other educational institutions across the continent.
