Henry Osei Akoto, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former Parliamentary Candidate for the Oforikrom Constituency, has expressed concerns about the potential dangers of electing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as President of Ghana.
Speaking on Accra-based CTV, Mr. Osei Akoto cited several reasons why he believes the Vice President is not fit to lead the country.
According to him, the current economic crisis, which he attributed to Dr. Bawumia as the leader of the Economic Management Team, is one of the main reasons why the NPP presidential candidate should not be allowed to lead the country.
Mr. Osei Akoto highlighted increasing utility tariffs, high transportation and fuel prices, and the collapse of the “Planting for Food and Jobs” initiative as some of the causes of the high cost of living in the country.
He also questioned Dr. Bawumia’s claim of being a “digitalization expert,” stating that the digitalization initiatives were established by former President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr. Osei Akoto emphasized that it would be “very dangerous for Ghanaians to hand over their destiny to Dr. Bawumia, given his track record as Vice President.”
