Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV of the Bediako Clan of the Kpone Stool has, on behalf of the Head and Principal Elders of the Clan, has ‘resurrected’ the Clan’s head, Nuumo Benjamin Naawu Tettey.
Born Lawrence Mansro Tettey Kwao, Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV said Nuumo Tettey was sworn in as the Bediako We head in 2008, after officially going through the aged sacred custom of Kpone.
The Kpone Bediako We has four gates namely, Sakumadra, Tei Mansro, Baaketse Akwetey and Ogbootse and the appointment of Nuumo Naawu Tettey, in 2008, was done at the Bediako We Royal family house at Kpone, upon the consent of selected and respected Principal Elders of all the four.
At a presser to, once again, reintroduce Nuumo Benjamin Naawu Tettey and announce to the public that he still remains the most credible head; Asafoatse Nii Odeasempa IV cautioned the public against dealing with any other Clan head apart from the only revered and recognised Nuumo Naawu Tettey.
According to some media publications, the Ogbootse Gate of the Bediako We had appointed a Clan Head in Tettey Ogoe, but Asafoatse Odeasempa said the Head and Principal Elders of the entire Bediako We do not recognise him.
“Why must people appoint another Clan Head when the one occupying the position has not been ousted or called to glory? It is for this shameful illegality by one of our four Gates that three of the Gates namely Sakumadra, Tei Mansro and Baaketse Akwetey are cautioning the general public to desist doing business with Tettey Ogoe of the Ogbootse Gate,” Asafoatse Odeasempa IV explained.
In conclusion, he said the Kpone Traditional Council has all the names of clan heads in the Kpone Traditional Area, and the register includes the name of Nuumo Benjamin Naawu Tettey.
