Amos Blessing Amose, the deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the Central Regional Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Mr. Ruben Asiwoko has been transferred for failing to drop the charges press against Minister Hawa Koomson.

If you can recall, the Special Development Minister who doubles as MP for Awutu Senya West, Hawa Koomson admitted having fired a warning shot at a registration centre of the ongoing new voters’ registration exercise in her constituency during a disturbance.

The incident got a wide public condemnation with many calling on the President to sack her for her actions. The following five days after the incident she was alleged to have been arrested by the Central Regional Police Command and the gun in question retrieved.

This according to Mr. Amose in a statement posted on his Facebook page, sighted by Awake News, has led to the transfer of the Regional Crime Officer.

“Instead of supporting the Regional Crime Officer to stamp out the reckless conducts of NPP functionaries in the region, the IGP and Central Regional Police Commander, have acquiesced to dictates of the deputy Central Regional Minster, Thomas Adjei Baffour and Hawa Koomson to transfer Chief Superintendent Asiwoko to the Eastern region. Reports are that Thomas Adjei Baffour instructed the regional crime officer to drop the charges against Hawa Koomson and the NPP hoodlums, but he told the deputy regional minister in the face that he will enforce the law regardless of who was involved.” – Mr. Amose said

“Chief superintendent Reuben Asiwoko is reported to have angrily told the deputy regional minister, “I won’t do it…my job is to ensure that I maintain law and order and the region is free from violence. The worse you can do is to tell my superiors to transfer me. You cannot sack me from the Police service.”” – he added

CENTRAL REGIONAL CRIME OFFICER TRANSFERRED FOR FAILURE TO DROP CHARGES AGAINST HAWA KOOMSON

Hawa Koomson’s roundly condemned trigger happy un-Ghanaian conduct and the NPP’s violent schemes in Ajumako have, sadly to say, claimed its first casualty in the Ghana Police Service.

While well-meaning Ghanaians have called for stiffer punishment for the Awutu Senya East MP and the NPP hoodlums arrested at Ajumako with stockpile arms, President Akufo Addo’s government, through the Inspector General of Police, has beared it’s teeth at the Central Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Reuben Asiwoko.

Instead of supporting the Regional Crime Officer to stamp out the reckless conducts of NPP functionaries in the region, the IGP and Central Regional Police Commander, have acquiesced to dictates of the deputy Central Regional Minster, Thomas Adjei Baffour and Hawa Koomson to transfer Chief Superintendent Asiwoko to the Eastern region. Reports are that Thomas Adjei Baffour instructed the regional crime officer to drop the charges against Hawa Koomson and the NPP hoodlums, but he told the deputy regional minister in the face that he will enforce the law regardless of who was involved.

Chief superintendent Reuben Asiwoko is reported to have angrily told the deputy regional minister, “I won’t do it…my job is to ensure that I maintain law and order and the region is free from violence. The worse you can do is to tell my superiors to transfer me. You cannot sack me from the Police service.”

Crestfallen and angered by the boisterous stance of the regional crime officer, the deputy regional minister reported Chief Superintendent Asiwoko to his superiors of which he has been transferred to the Eastern region. He is to exit the Central region by August 5, 2020. Just as Akufo Addo is fighting those fighting corruption, he has also turned his guns on those fighting crime while the hoodlums are carried shoulder high and goaded to do more.
