President John Mahama has directed the Lands Commission to immediately suspend all activities relating to the sale, lease, or processing of transactions involving State and Public Lands.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the President on Friday, January 10, the directive is to preserve these lands for the benefit of current and future generations.

The statement said that all ongoing and pending transactions must be halted without delay to allow for a comprehensive review of the framework governing the management of State and Public Lands.

The President also directed the Lands Commission to submit a detailed report on all recent and ongoing transactions concerning these lands to the Office of the President within 14 days.

If you will recall, the President during his 2024 campaign promised the people of Ghana he will recover all state lands sold under the previous Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration. He also indicated that he will bar all government officials from buying state properties.
