Ghanaian singer Gyakie has finally addressed the disturbing incident involving her manager, Electro Mirror, and security officers at the 2023 AfroNation Festival in Portugal. Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio, the “Forever” hitmaker expressed how difficult it remains for her to revisit the event.

“Anytime I have to talk about it, it kind of opens wounds that have already been healed,” she said. “I had to perform that day, and experiencing all that chaos just before going on stage is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”

Although she managed to perform, Gyakie admitted that the situation left her shaken. The flood of calls and reactions in the aftermath changed her perspective on how the industry operates. “It made me see things differently,” she noted.

Reflecting on the Viral Footage and Moving Forward

In June 2023, a viral video surfaced showing Electro Mirror pinned to the ground by five security officers as he struggled to breathe. George Britton, who filmed the incident, could be heard frantically condemning the officers’ actions. The footage shocked fans and industry insiders alike.

Gyakie used the interview to highlight the emotional toll such moments take on artists. She encouraged fellow creatives to prepare for unexpected challenges and remain cautious while navigating the entertainment world. “The entertainment business is full of surprises. We all need to be careful about how we handle situations,” she advised.

Despite the painful memory, Gyakie is focusing on her music career. She is set to release her debut album, After Midnight, following the success of two earlier EPs. Her first single from the album, Sankofa, is already out and gaining attention.
