Group to demonstrate against ‘Akyem Sakawa Boys’ over lack of development

A group calling itself Progressive Akyem Citizens has served notice to hit the street to vent their spleen on appointees of the Akufo Addo government from the Akyem State over lack of development.

The group says Akyems in the current government, including President Akufo Addo, have preoccupied themselves with fanning tribalism and ethnocentrism instead of focusing attention on developing the area.

The announcement of the demonstration was contained in a press statement signed by convenor of the group, Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye .

For Immediate Release

DEMONSTRATION AGAINST OUR COMPATRIOTS IN GOVERNMENT ON THE LACK OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE AKYEM AREA AND THE PROMOTION OF TRIBALISM BY OUR BROTHERS IN GOVERNMENT

We the leadership and members of the Progressive Akyem Citizens wish to inform the general public about our intended demonstration against our compatriots in government over lack of development in the Akyem area and the promotion of tribal bigotry by same compatriots in government.

The theme for this demonstration is ‘OKYEMAN DESERVES DEVELOPMENT NOT TRIBAL POLITICS FROM OUR OWN ELEMENTS IN GOVERNMENT’.

The demonstration is slated for September 17, 2020 at Akwatia in the Denkyembuor District of the Eastern Region at 8am. The Dress code for the demonstration is strictly Black or Red with your Nose mask. No political party attire. The general public is informed that all Covid 19 protocols will be adhered to strictly.
All are cordially invited.
