Ghanaian gospel artist Great Ampong has publicly apologized to Ghanaians, his church members, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the controversial campaign songs he released ahead of the December 2024 elections.

His earlier track, which supported Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and contained contentious lyrics targeting President John Mahama and the NDC, sparked outrage, especially among NDC supporters.

In a surprising U-turn, Ampong released a new song titled “Apology,” where he calls for peace and unity among Ghanaians. The song reflects his regret over the past lyrics that may have caused anger and division.

Ampong admitted that his previous songs, intended to support a political cause, were inappropriate and hurtful to some. In the track, he not only apologized to the NDC but also to his followers and church members, acknowledging that his words may have offended them.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ampong expressed his frustration with the political landscape, claiming that politicians often make promises to the public during campaigns but fail to deliver once in power. He urged Ghanaians to focus on peace and harmony, acknowledging the selfish nature of some politicians.

While some Ghanaians have appreciated his change of heart, others feel that the apology comes too late to undo the damage. The big question now is whether the NDC and his fans will accept his apology or if the bridges he burned are beyond repair.
