Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko has revealed that the government plans to initiate discussions with transport operators to reduce public transport fares following recent drops in fuel prices.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Kwahu Business Forum held in Mpraeso on Saturday, April 19, Nyarko stressed the broader economic benefits of this move, particularly its potential to ease inflation.
“We’re committed to lowering inflation, and we’ve already started seeing progress. With fuel prices declining, we believe it’s time to engage transport operators to review and reduce fares. This would contribute significantly to stabilizing prices and improving economic conditions for everyone,” he said.
Nyarko also praised the inclusive spirit of the Kwahu Business Forum, pointing to the attendance of the Minority Leader as a symbol of national unity in pursuing economic growth.
“The participation of leaders across the political divide, alongside the private sector, underscores our shared goal of driving the country’s development forward,” he stated.
