The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations is investigating a cyber breach involving about 5,700 MTN customers.
It is working closely with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), the National Communications Authority (NCA), and the Data Protection Commission (DPC). The goal is to determine how the breach occurred and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities plan to contact affected customers, in line with Ghana’s Data Protection Act. They are also reviewing MTN’s systems to check for weaknesses that may have enabled the breach.
The Ministry has assured the public of transparency. It promised regular updates as the probe continues.
“We remain committed to protecting personal data and ensuring accountability,” the Ministry stated.
