Government has condemned the shooting incident that happened at a meeting of NDC executives in Ashanti Region and warned perpetrators of violence to desist from jeopardizing the peace of the country.
The shootout that has resulted in the death of one person, according to the preliminary investigation was carried out by four members of a pro-NDC vigilante group, The Hawks.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command says it has launched an investigation into the attack with the suspects declared wanted.
The Police Command has also urged the public to furnish them with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to aid in their investigation.
Government in a statement signed by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah commiserated with the family of the bereaved while wishing the injured a “speedy recovery”.
“Government reiterates that violence should be eschewed in all spheres of our national life. Citizens and groups are further encouraged to desist from actions that create a state of insecurity in our nation,” the statement adds.

On Monday February 18, reports were rife about a gunshot battle at the NDC office at Amakom in the Ashanti Region.
Reports had it that the National and Regional executives of the biggest opposition party were in a meeting when gun-wielding men on motorbikes stormed the premises and started shooting.
The attack led to the unfortunate death of one and another battling for his life at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, after sustaining severe gunshot injury.
The incident was confirmed by Regional Secretary of the NDC in the Ashanti Region who was at the scene at the time of the attack.
