Buipewura Jinapor made this call when the Minister of Regional Integration, Dan Kweku Botwe paid a courtesy visit to the Yagbonwura at the Jakpa Palace.

The Minister during his visit told the people of the Gonja land that the selection of the capital town for the newly created regions is the sole responsibility of the President following a request by the Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Tuntilumba Boresa to make Damongo the Capital of the Savanna Region.

In response to the Minister, Buipewura reminded the Minister of their closed-door meetings and the several calls he made to him to settle on Damongo as the capital.

He further warned that Nana Addo will do himself a great disservice by changing the capital as the Chiefs across the Gonja land have settled on Damongo.

Buipewura assured the President that no chief from Gonjaland will attend any meeting in the Savannah regional capital if he fails to maintain Damongo as their capital.

Mr Botwe expressed his gratitude to the people of Gonjaland for voting massively during the referendum and used the opportunity to formally invite Yagbonwura to the Jubilee House on February 12, 2019 to meet the President who will officially announce the capital and make the newly created regions operational.

Accompanying the Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development, Dan Botwe to the  Palace of the Yagbonwura were the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, DCEs across Gonjaland, the MP for Salaga South Adam Salifu Braimah, Paramount chiefs across the land with the exception of the Kpembewura who was fully represented.
