Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Leader of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, has expressed strong condemnation over the recent armed invasion of Dr. Ernest Addison’s residence, describing it as a disturbing and unacceptable act.

Speaking to the press on Thursday, Afenyo-Markin condemned the early-morning attack, where armed individuals not only ransacked the former Bank of Ghana Governor’s home but also stole valuables and seized his official vehicles.

Afenyo-Markin pointed out that such actions are a direct assault on the rule of law, with the potential to erode public trust and investor confidence in Ghana’s stability.

He emphasized that this act of intimidation has no place in a democratic society like Ghana and undermines the principles of justice and fairness that the country stands for.

The Minority Leader also voiced concerns about the growing lawlessness in the country, warning that it could provoke ordinary citizens to take matters into their own hands if left unchecked.

He called for a swift and transparent investigation into the incident, urging that justice be served to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Afenyo-Markin concluded by urging President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action in addressing the matter and ensuring that such intimidation does not become a norm in the country.

He called on the government to work towards restoring peace, justice, and order to preserve Ghana’s democratic values.
