Rex Owusu Marfo, also known as Rex Omar and Coordinator of the Blackstar Experience, says Ghana will soon have a world-class film studio.
He shared this news during the launch of the Blackstar Experience on May 1, 2025, at the Freedom and Justice Monument in Accra.
According to him, the Blackstar Experience Secretariat is helping secure a multi-million-dollar private investment for the project. Construction will begin this year. The studio, called Ananse Studios, will follow Hollywood standards and include a training facility for film professionals.
Rex Omar also outlined other events under the Blackstar Experience. These include football matches featuring legends from international clubs and Ghana’s national team, Ghana Music Week, an annual meeting called Creative Connect, and Detty December celebrations.
He added that they are forming partnerships with global groups, including one in Atlanta that hosts Blackstar Week every year.
He explained that this initiative will showcase Ghanaian talent and products. It will also open up investment opportunities and connect Ghana to global events. The experience will focus on seven areas: cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage.
Rex Omar said the team wants to position Ghana among the world’s top 20 most respected country brands. He emphasized that they will embed the Blackstar Experience framework into many national programs.
Their goal is to raise Ghana’s global image, attract more travelers, and make Ghana Africa’s cultural capital.
