The Ghana Police Service has taken disciplinary action against two officers caught extorting money from motor riders in Accra last month.
The officers, Lance Corporal Philemon Agbevem and Lance Corporal Peter Gbadagbo, were allegedly involved in the act on July 22 of this year.
Their interdiction, ordered on August 9, is intended to allow the alleged culprits to assist in the investigation of the incident.
In a short press statement on social media, on Thursday, August 15, the Police Service said, “The Ghana Police Service on 9th August 2024, interdicted two policemen for allegedly extorting money from a motor pillion rider in Accra on 22nd July 2024.
“The two, Lance Corporal Philimon Agbevem and Lance Corporal Peter Gbadagbo are assisting in investigations.”
The Police service further assured the general public that the interdicted men will be made to face the law.
“We would like to assure the public that they will be put through the due process of the law,” the statement concluded.
