Ghana Police calls for Special Prayers amid killing of officers

The Religious Affairs Directorate of Ghana Police Service is calling for a special prayer service for the “safety and divine projection for  the leadership and officers of the service”

In an invitation letter signed by the Director of the Religious Affairs Directorate, V. Rev. Fr. George Author, says the call for prayers across the [ads1]country “has become very necessary and imperative considering the recent spate of adversarial killing of serving officers”.

“Much as the Police Administration is putting together resources, expert knowledge, experiences and  appropriate mechanism in place to avert future occurrences, it behoves upon us as the Clergy of the Service to beseech divine projection for all Service Officers” – the letter stated

In recent times there have been series of attacks and killing of Police Officers on duty across the country by suspected criminals.

Last week, two officers were shot dead by robbers while returning from night duty in the Ashanti Region, while a military officer attached to the Flagstaff House was also killed by the roadside at Tema, a few weeks ago.

There were media reports of the killing of two police officers at Droboso in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Just last week, one Police Office, Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi was killed at Kwabenya Police Station while some suspected robbers stormed the station to free seven suspects held in the police custody.
