Ghana to Participate in World Disability Billiard and Snooker Championship

Accra, Jan 7, GNA – The Ghana Wheelchair Basketball Federation (GWBF), has received an official invitation, from the World Disability Billiards and Snooker (WDBS) to participate in three different snooker championships of the WDBS in the first quarter of 2018.

The tournaments which will take place in UK and Belgium respectively from the 2nd – 4th February 2018, which is the Snooker tour would be held at the Elite Snooker Club Preston, England for the physically disable.

The GWBF has register two players together with two officials to represent Ghana.

The players and the officials would stay at the Premier Inn Hotel, Preston (South Lostock lane Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6 BA – the official hotel for the tournament.

The second tournament which is for the visually and deaf players would take place at Barrats Snooker Club in Northampton and would be held from the 16-18 February 2018.

The GWBF has registered two dear players together with one sign language interpreter and a coach to take part in the tournament.

The third tournament which would take place in Belgium would be the first time the tournament would be held outside UK after the formation of the WDBS in September 2015, with the aim of giving opportunity to persons with disability to play cue sports.

The WDBS invitation to Ghana has come as a results of the on going talks between the two bodies in working together in promoting the game.
