President Mahama has come under fire from Kwesi Pratt Jr., The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, for what he has dubbed politically motivated appointments.

Pratt, whose daughter holds a prominent position in the current administration, serving as the Vice President’s Press Secretary, claims that the president’s nominations are politically influenced at every level.

This is “anti-national and stupid. What’s happening in our country? What about those who don’t belong to political parties? Are they not human beings anymore?” Pratt fumes.

He stated that a political party taking power should not be the reason for someone to lose their citizenship. “This is nonsense,” he fumed.

Kwesi Pratt’s remarks come amid mounting concern about the appointment of NDC footsoldiers to crucial sectors of the economy with no experience, relegating technocrats to the background.

Speaking on Pan African TV’s Alhaji and Alhaji broadcast, he also made reference to the previous government making similar appointments.

He criticized the appointment of Dr. Peter Appiahene, an NPP sympathizer, to the Electoral Commission, calling it “blatantly discriminatory.”

He stressed the need for increased accountability, transparency, and competency at the Electoral Commission.

Pratt’s remarks highlight the importance of a more inclusive and transparent approach to governance in Ghana.

He stated, “Ghana does not belong to Mahama or the NDC,” emphasizing the need of prioritizing national interests over political politics.
