The Ghana Football Association, (GFA) has revealed its intention to offer free License D coaching courses to 900 Colts teams across the country. It will span three years and is part of strategies to fix the fundamental challenges in grassroots football.
The new policy comes on the back of a proposal from the National Juvenile Committee for the professional development of football at the grassroots. When started, the programme will graduate three hundred (300) professionally certified coaches every season, well-equipped to groom talent.
Each of the ten (10) recognized football regions will select 30 coaches to be part of the exercise every year. This is to help bridge the gap created after the FA required all Colts Club Coaches to have at least, License D. GFA believes football clubs from the grassroots to the Premier League level must have the needed qualifications for their respective levels.
Meanwhile, the GFA is also scheduled to hold free First Aid Training for juvenile clubs across the country. Announced by President Kurt Okraku on March 28, 2024, the programme is part of policies to improve grassroots football in the country. All juvenile clubs in the country are to send a representative to participate in the First Aid Training. Participants will be assessed by the FA’s instructors and qualified participants will receive certificates at the end of the training.
