A press statement signed by the Director, HRMD of GES, Mrs Adjoa van – Vicker on July 17, 2020 revealed that all Trained Teachers who completed College of Education in 2017 and 2018 who are now qualified for posting are to apply for GES recruitment on or before August 25, 2020.

The press release emphasized that applicants who are qualified for the recruitment process are those graduates that completed the various Colleges of Education in 2017 and 2018 only, who were not qualified for recruitment by the Ghana Education Service (GES) at the time of the exercise but have subsequently qualified to be recruited.

Also, applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

  1. Complete College of Education in 2017 or 2018 and have no outstanding/ referral paper.
  2. Completed the mandatory National Service.
  3. Passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams.
  4. Available to work where your services are needed.

All the qualified interested applicants are obligated to access the GES official web portal www.gespromotion.gov.gh, complete an application form and attach valid certificates on or before the said date.

Meanwhile, in 2018, out of the 14,956 newly Trained Teachers from the various Colleges of Education who undertook the first-ever Trained Teacher mandatory National Service, only 14,500 received their GES posting in November 2019 as qualified teachers into the basic schools.

Trained Teachers who are about 3,000, counting from 2016, 2017 and 2018 badges are yet to receive their posting from the Ghana Education Service (GES) due to irregularities on the part of the newly Trained Teachers.

Nonetheless, the 2019 Trained Teachers from Colleges of Education, who are currently undertaking their mandatory National Service are as well expecting their recruitment into the Ghana Education Service by close of year.GES statement of teacher trainees
