The General Legal Council of Ghana (GLC), the body that regulates the legal profession in Ghana is under pressure to hear some petitions brought before it by a pressure group, United for National Interest and civil rights activist Korsi Senyo.
According to some letters sighted by Awake News’ Britney Brown, a five-day ultimatum has been given to the GLC to hear the petitions or face court action.
The United for National Interest on June 11, 2017 has petitioned the General Legal Council over what they say is professional misconduct of 30 groups of lawyers including Mr. Sam Okudzeto, a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council.
According to their petition, the group seeks to bring to the attention of the Council some activities of Mr. Sam Okudzeto and other 30 lawyers which they say is not in line with the Legal profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969 (LI613) specifically Rule 2 (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Mr. Emmanuel Korsi Senyo on the other hand also petitioned the Council over what he described as professional misconduct Mr. Vincent Kizito Beyuo-lawyer of the GLC and Mr. ACE Anan Ankomah.

REQUEST FOR UPDATE:- COMPLAINT OF PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT
AGAINST MR. SAM OKUDZETO
I write on behalf of the leadership of the United for National Interest to request for an update on the status of our petition on the above subject dated June 14, 2017.(Please find attached a copy of the said petition).
The petition sort to bring to your attention some activities of Mr. Sam Okudzeto, a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council which is not in line with the Legal profession (Professional Conduct and Etiquette) Rules, 1969 (LI613) specifically Rule 2 (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Per information on your website, the Council is required to respond to any complaint brought before its Disciplinary Committee within 14 days.
However, we regret to notify you that, we have not been informed on the status of our petition.
This letter is therefore making an official request for you to provide us with an update on the status of our petition.
We will have no option than to proceed to the court if we do not hear from you within five (5) working days of your receipt of this letter.
I hope this humble request will be given the needed attention.
