The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has terminated the contracts of all Regional and Zonal Coordinators of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) with immediate effect.

A statement signed by the Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, effectively sacked the caterers appointed by the previous Akufo-Addo administration.

The GSFP, a flagship program of the previous government, aimed to provide hot meals to school children.

However, the program has faced criticism over the years, with concerns raised about the quality of food, payment delays, and corruption.

In 2024, the School Feeding Caterers Association demanded payment of arrears owed to them, storming the Gender Ministry to press their claims.

The termination of contracts is seen as a significant shake-up of the program, with many speculating that the John Mahama administration is seeking to restructure the GSFP.

The move may also be linked to allegations of mismanagement and corruption within the program.

The affected coordinators have been instructed to visit the GSFP Secretariat to collect their individual termination letters and handing-over instructions.
